What I am is a guy with a lot of annoyingly complex hobbies. I’ve been woodworking for about two years in my friend’s shop, and I’ve recently built out my own shop.
I love woodworking because it is, so far as I can tell, an act of patience. It takes wood curing and epoxy drying and sanding and finishing. And patience is not my strong suit. I think it’s the same reason I like meat smoking, homebrewing, and writing: it’s hard work, it results in something tangible, and it gives me a chance to practice something I’m not all that good at.
