No, not to woodworking.
But, maybe? But probably not. I’ve spent the past four years working in education, and I’ve decided to make a change. To what? Unclear. What I do know is that I want to do something creative, and that I want to work with great people. So, maybe writing? Or food? Or, like, get really into YouTube. For a while, at least, it will be woodworking.
I’m tinkering with what I think politicians call “job creation” below. I figure: if you can’t find the job you want, make it up.
I’ve also put a more earnest attempt at a resume below that. I’d love some advice or a potential lead as to what I should do next.
You’ve heard of a Speech-Language Pathologist….
but have you heard of a Body Language Pathologist? Body Language accounts for up to 55% of the way we communicate. Why not work to train young people in the subtle art of physical communication?
You’ve heard of a landscaper…
and you’ve heard of a skyscraper (which isn’t really a job, at least traditionally). But why aren’t there any seascapers? I mean, beyond removing plastic and oil from the ocean, why isn’t anybody trimming coral or cutting seaweed into interesting shapes?
You’ve heard of a garbage collector…
but who really wants to keep all that trash? What about a garbage purger? You know, someone whose not trying so hard to hoard garbage.
In earnest, I am entering the job market, and I have a fairly open mind about what I might want to do next. So, if you think I’d be good for your business, or your friend’s business, or your aunt Shelia’s old accountant’s daughter just started an artist collective with a pizza chef, a distiller, and an escape room designer, please reach out.
And if you are wondering what didn’t make the list of jobs I created, or you’re just looking for some more C+ word play, here you go.
You’ve heard of…
Aerospace Engineer → Narrowspace Engineer
Cartographer → Horse-ographer
Civil Engineer → Uncivil Engineer
Physical Therapist → Physical Care-o-Pist
Long-Haul Trucking → Short-Haul Trucking
(That last one is pretty much Uber for non-persons)
