Want Something Custom?
Woodworking, above all, is about man’s mastery over nature. It’s about dominance and control.
(Just Kidding)
One of my favorite parts of woodworking is envisioning new pieces. In other mediums, like painting and ceramics, artist take unformed materials and turn them into something beautiful. In woodworking, I get to cheat by simply adding flourishes to naturally beautiful pieces of wood. I truly enjoy matching a piece of wood to a client’s needs and working with them to make something beautiful. On this page, I’ve shared some of the wood I have in my shop. If you want something custom (from a cheese board to an end table to a coffee table), start by taking a look at what I have in stock. And if that all sucks, shoot me an email and I will buy more wood.
Also pictured: the newest addition to the Brasch family, Gumbo the dog. He is not for sale, unless it’s, like, a really good deal.
Giant Olive
This monster of a piece of Olive wood would make a couple of great coffee/side tables. If you’re looking for a bigger, ‘wow’ piece, I’d suggest this. If you’d like a smaller board out of this, also let me know. If enough folks want smaller (i.e. <14inch) boards, I’ll cut it up.
Honey Locust
I have two pieces of near-bark cuts of some funky honey locust. It doesn’t show it, but this honey locust has some beautiful red-ish, almost pink, hues. The wood is a bit too all over the place to make this into a single piece, but if you like pieces with all sorts of nooks and crannies, this is the piece for you.
Red Sequoia
This rectangular piece of Sequoia has deep red tones that this photo doesn’t do justice. Sequoia is a softer wood, so this will need an epoxy coating when it’s finished. It would make an awesome coffee table or a couple of larger serving boards/end tables.
Long Elm
This piece of Siberian Elm is ideal for a larger scale piece. It’s think, straight, and without any flourishes. It’s ideal to make into a bench, a series of end tables, or a longer single table.
This piece has been reserved. Contact me if you’d like to commission something like this.
